Part 1: Be The Influencer!
Im Rahmen unseres Projekts „Future Classroom on Stage“ reflektieren und beleuchten wir mit Schüler*innen des Digitial Campus in Graz die positiven und negativen Seiten der Digitalisierung.
Social Media ist ein Zuahuse, ein willkommener Ort für Jugendliche. Aber vieles an diesem Ort ist nicht real, viel zu übertrieben und manchmal gar Fake. Wir waren begeistert wie weit die Kids bereits denken und sich sehr wohl über all diese Aspekte und auch die Gefahren Bescheid wissen…
Wir denken es ist wichtig, sich dem immer wieder bewußt zu werden und dies in kreativen Prozessen zu bearbeiten und mit anderen zu teilen, um diese auch zum Nachdenken und Überdenken zu bewegen!
Auftrag des ersten Workshop Teils war es reale Produkte zu bewerben. So wie es die Influencer machen. Welchen Stil verwenden sie dabei? „Sie sind immer gut gelaunt, total übertrieben, ihre Stimme schlägt über vor Begeisterung für die Produkte und sie machen jetzt grad gar keine Werbung, sie verwenden dieses Shampoo im wirklichen Leben immer und freiwillig, essen nur diese Chips, nur dieses Müsli, tragen nur diesen Hut, kochen nur aus diesem Kochbuch, verwenden nur dieses Smartphone,…“
Um auch die Möglichkeiten, die man beim Editieren von Videos hat und wie man Sätze, Bedeutungen, Aussagen aus dem Kontext reißen kann und somit easy jemandem falsche Worte in den Mund legen kann, hat Florian beim Video-Schnitt alle Produkt-Werbungen vermischt und in eins gepackt.

FCOS Book Review: Ten Arguments For Deleting Your Social Media Accounts Right Now
In the new book by Jaron Lanier "Ten Arguments For Deleting Your Social Media Accounts Right Now", there is a profound discussion about the positive and negative aspects of the general development of the Social Media-Technologies of the Silicon-Valley-Developers. Lanier was working there as a pioneer and head-developer programming and making concepts for this industry and the virtual reality. Then he quit his job, because he could not any longer stand the manipulation of all the users, contributing to the wrong politics and enlargement of profits of the social media technology industry and its development in the wrong direction for our society. He thinks our society will be destroyed if we don’t take action now and make the right decisions how to use these tools.
Ironically, his own kids are not allowed to use social media (as are many of the kids of his colleagues) - so they do not get addicted and influenced in their development so strongly. Lanier thinks it is very dangerous for kids and also adults because the developers aim to manipulate the human psyche to serve their customers, who want get more profit generated by these technical tools. Essentially, the SMA users are already the ware themselves.
For example: the human archaic needs and wishes like being accepted in their tribe (group of people), or getting rewards (chemical drugs like dopamine), getting seen (belief of an artificial false identity), being in communication (always stressed of being online and responding), etc. are fed. He describes the artificial intelligence of these technologies that are getting more and more complex. And negative news/impacts are much more successful than positive news/impacts,...
In his introduction of the book he asked the kids and adults to be like a cat, who feels and does, what she really wants. Lanier tells us to be very alert in using the new Technology-tools, and how to stay yourself!
I would highly recommend this book to all!

In early summer, members of the Future Classroom Team enjoyed the priviledge of observing a group of students using their Digital Lab. Afterward, the architects met for a discussion about their intentions in creating the lab, and why such spaces are necessary in a 21st Century learning environment.

Opening Ceremony
On January 27th, Graz architects, designers, artists and city officials gathered together to kick-off of #Kulturjahr2020 this past Thursday at Congress Graz. Descriptions of the 94 projects could be found throughout the historic building. In addition, participants enjoyed several intriguing speeches — all focused around the central idea of #wiewirwollenleben — before dinner + drinks. A wonderful evening indeed!
